FAQ LUCAS 2020: Frequently asked questions about the film festival

Dear teachers, educators, parents, and film fans;

This year there are many different ways to experience films at LUCAS.

In the cinema, online (video-on-demand), in the classroom, or individually at home.

As a group, alone, with friends, or with family.

We have tried to clarify the most important questions for you in advance:

How can I book a film for a group?

Either via the booking telephone: 069 961 220 678, via e-mail: lucas-info@dff.film, or online at the Festival website.

Until when can I book films?

Up to and including 15.9.2020.

Can I book for groups after 15.9.2020?

Only after a telephone consultation, as the allotments are limited.

Does every student need their own ticket and what does it cost?

The cinema ticket costs € 3.50 per student with an early discount price. Up to three teachers can attend free of charge.

What payment methods can I use to buy tickets?

Directly at the box office (cash or EC-card) in advance or 30 – 15 minutes before the beginning of the screening. Or by invoice with Paypal or bank transfer.

How large must the group be?

Group bookings are possible from 10 persons.

I have booked a film for a group. What happens next?

First, you will receive a booking confirmation from us by e-mail. If you wish, you will receive an invoice, otherwise you pay on-site at the box office.

Are there subtitles and/or dubbing for non-German films?

All non-German films have either German or English subtitles. Films up to and including the age recommendation “from 13 years of age” have German subtitles that can be selected and deselected.

What does cinema on demand mean?

The cinema as the original place for film remains an essential part of the festival. But, a new possibility is Cinema-on-Demand. You choose the competition film of your choice, and we provide you with the hall of the DFF cinema.

Which films can be selected?

You can choose films from the 8+, 13+ and 16+ | Youngsters competitions (depending on availability).

How large must a group be?

For groups of 20 to 30 people.

What dates are available?

Please contact us! This new offering can be booked only during certain dates of the festival week at the DFF cinema.

How can I buy a ticket?

At the DFF box office (cash or EC card) or online.

The online sale of cinema tickets is handled by our partner Cinetixx: and can be accessed through our Programmübersicht page where you can select a movie and click on the button “Buy Ticket Now.” Select the number of tickets and the price category (regular, reduced) under the film screening of your choice. Payment is possible by credit card, Paypal, or immediate bank transfer. Online tickets can be purchased up to half an hour before the screening starts.

Does every student need their own ticket and what does it cost?

The class will receive a code that will be used for the joint viewing. The sighting costs 2 € per student. Up to two teachers can watch for free.

Which payment methods can I use to buy tickets?

Paypal and bank transfer.

How big does the group have to be?

Group bookings are possible from 10 persons.

When can I watch movies?

From 24.9.2020 to 1.10.2020.

How much time do I have to watch the film after I have bought it?

24 hours.

In which countries can I watch the films?

Germany.

I have booked a film for a group. What happens next?

First, you will receive a booking confirmation from us by e-mail and then an invoice. After receipt of the payment, you will be sent the code. This usually happens a little later, but no later than 23.9.2020.

Do I need an account with Pantaflix?

No.

Can I delete my cookies while the film is running?

No, please do not. This will jeopardize the playback of the film.

Are there subtitles and/or dubbing for non-German films?

All non-German films have either German or English subtitles. Films up to and including the age recommendation “from 13 years” have a selectable German dubbing.

Video on Demand for Individuals

How can I watch movies?

Movies can be purchased directly in the player and once started, can be watched within 24 hours.

When can I book movies?

From the 17.9.2020

When can I watch movies?

From 24.9.2020 to 1.10.2020.

How much time do I have to watch the film after I have bought it?

24 hours.

In which countries can I watch the films?

Germany.

What payment methods can I use to buy tickets?

Paypal and credit card.

What does the movie display look like if I have a bad internet connection?

We automatically adjust the quality of the movies to your internet connection. If you have a slow internet connection, it may happen that the movie does not play in the best possible quality.

Can I watch content in HD?

Yes, all movies are available in HD.

What do I need to stream the movies?

A device with an operating system from Windows 8.1, Mac 10.9, Android M, and one of the following browsers: Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge. Optional: good speakers, a projector, and a desire to watch movies.

Do I need an account with Pantaflix?

No.
